What To Do With Fourth of July Leftovers?
So we’ve watched a handful of fireworks light up the sky, we have eaten all the hotdogs we can, and now our fridges are filled with leftovers. What in the world do we do with all those hotdog buns and bugers? You can freeze almost anything now wrapped properly to save it, but here are a few ideas to turn those leftovers into tasty treats!
Leftover Hamburger Buns: Bread Pudding
It’s easy to make up this comforting dessert with leftover hamburger (or hot dog) buns; just let the bread dry out slightly for a day and then use it in place of French bread in your favorite bread pudding recipe. Hamburger and hot dog buns soak up the egg and cinnamon mixture just as well as French or ciabatta bread, and the dessert can be served hot or cold for your next gathering.
Leftover Hamburgers: Stuffed Peppers
Stuffed peppers are a great entree or side dish. You can ground up the leftover hamburgers and use them in ANY stuffed pepper recipe. Hallow out the peppers, mix and season ground beef, your favorite cheese, and even bread crumbs and fill up those peppers. We have a handful of great stuffed pepper recipes on our site!
Leftover Coleslaw: Chicken Coleslaw Salad
As tasty as coleslaw can be, it’s a side dish that can quickly lose its appeal at the backyard barbecue or picnic. Keep this one a fresh and exciting addition to the summer table by mixing in pieces of grilled chicken, fresh vegetables and a touch of BBQ sauce and you’ll have something new to look forward to at lunch.
Just make sure that you bought all of your SaranWrap, Reynold’s Wrap and storage containers or Tupperware with coupons or on sale at Walgreens, Target, Walmart, Costco or Sam’s and had them when you needed them!
Hope everyone had a safe and fun Fourth Of July!
